Samir: Uncle Niran's always telling us goofy stories from his and Satya's academy days. Turns out Auntie scrubbed pretty much every video of that from every networked hard drive in the world as a birthday gift to him in her third year after defecting. I found it in her records--no actual videos, just the algorithms she wrote to hunt them down. She gets so embarrassed when she does genuinely nice things for people.

Anon talking about Ghostflower fans fake concern for Margo is how they are with Starling too. The double standards the Ghostflower shippers have specifically for Miles' black love interests is nuts. Starling is surviving on her own and her only family is her grandpa, the super villain Vulture, who is batshit crazy even though he does love her a lot, but Starling understandably feels she can no longer have a relationship with her grandpa because of the terrible crimes he's done and is doing and the lies he told her. Despite being on her own and dealing with her own trauma, Starling doesn't just say she cares about Miles, she shows it and has always had his back 100% even if it has meant risking her life because she loves him and he loves her. One of the many reasons Starling and Miles are so good together is because they both stand on business and are not afraid to lay everything on the line for the people they love. Starling also cares about Miles mentally and physically as Miles not just Spider-man and regularly encourages and pushes him to communicate his feelings, and ultimately convinces him to start therapy. The Ghostflower shippers response to Starling? "Oh she's so mean, she's got nothing going for her other than being a love interest, she's so unlikeable, she's so badly written." Which is false by the way. Miles and Starling have been dating for years, she is a good character who continues to be developed and people who aren't just trying to push Miles with Gwen, like Starling when they discover her, which is why the Ghostflower shippers see her as a threat. Compare Ghostflower shipper's response to Starling with their response to ATSV Gwen who has been in contact with Miles for less than a week, treats Miles like a kid, lies to him, says great things about the spider-society to him (which she did not have to do) even though she knows they view Miles as a mistake and he will feel like an outsider because he isn't part of them, doesn't take Miles' feelings on anything into consideration, agrees with letting Miles' dad die and then works with the society to help capture Miles to make it happen, launches a motorcycle at him and endangers his life, does absolutely nothing to reassure him when Miguel is yelling at him that he doesn't belong and is slamming him against the train, then tells Miles "it's for your own good", treats her band friends like shit and tries to stop Miles from saving Pavitir's captain. Gwen did not have Miles' back in ATSV even though he had hers and the other spiders' in ITSV. Spider-Gwen/Ghostflower fans response to this? "Gwen didn't know better! She's dealing with trauma! She was brainwashed! She's lonely and sad! She has NOOOBBOODDYYYYYYYY!!! She's misunderstood! She has sooo much she's going through!!! Anyway it's a love story!!! They're soulmates so he'll get over it!!! Gwen deserves happiness!!!! She's trying her best!!! You people hate Gwen and lack media literacy!!!" Again, Starling comes from a traumatic background but has always been there for Miles, yet Ghostflower/Spider-Gwen fans have zero care for Starling's struggles, but will make every excuse for Gwen. And I'm not trying to hate Gwen but her treatment of Miles was very much fucked up and the way it's dismissed by Ghostflower shippers is mad, especially because Hobie and Spiderbyte also had shit to lose going against Miguel but they still did the right thing even though they only just met Miles, they respected him with actions not just words in a way Gwen did not.

The way you break down not only all of Gwens behavior in ATSV but also her stans/ghostflower shippers response to it was just so spot on, truthishly. Me personally, I don’t necessarily blame her for doing less cause I do really feel for her difficult home-life situation, but I definitely acknowledge that she could have done more! And should have! She and all the other spiders are super smart, I am not! They could have figured something out! She could’ve gone to Hobie for help earlier! Or Peter! Or someone, so she could have not done everything that she did

And I never thought about how Hobie and Margo compare to her, thank you for pointing that out as well. Margo is just like Gwen in terms of how the spider society is her escape from her personal familial home life, but when faced with helping Miles at disobeying Miguel? At risking losing her safe space? Barely any hesitation! She got his ass home (not really but yk) and away from the feral vampire man trying to get him! And she barely knew him! She didn’t even really have any context to the whole canon event thing cause she wasn’t there for it. As others have said previously, she saw a Black boy in need and just helped him! As did Hobie. Love these two, need to get more obsessed with them for real, ugh! /pos

Gwiles is not a thing in their respective comics. They never dated and aren't even close friends in them. They had one crossover where Gwen kissed Miles after visiting earth-8, immediately apologized for it, said she didn't want them to feel pressured into anything, and they agreed they rather be friends. Dassit. They hadn't been in each others comics before that and haven't been in each others since. I think what's throwing is in the original atsv preview, Miles had one drawing of Gwen, and that's much more in line with how his comic character views her. He was not pressed. But they scrapped that to make it more awkward.

But Miles looking so gone on Gwen because he's mistaking unresolved trauma for deep interest in her would make sense given his age/everything he's been through/the theme of the films. And taking time to actually face/process his trauma looks like it's been setup to play a huge role in btsv.

Margo and Miles spider senses going off so specifically and having them shook also means something since the creators focus on it. The art book confirms Margo thinks Miles is cute and says she plays a bigger role than expected. Maybe just by being her confident/ brilliant/caring/funny/cute self, she helps Miles see what direct mutual attraction is like when you're talked to and treated like an equal (not a kid), don't have to constantly worry about proving your value, and aren't dealing with mixed signals. Maybe he helps her embrace the possibility of being fully present in a relationship with someone who listens to and values her, and helps her to stop isolating to avoid her trauma as well. Or maybe Miles puts the spider society behind him but he and Margo forge some other specific forever bond.

Either way, the black director knows the weight of the position he is in and is very protective of Miles, Margo and Hobie. There's often only so much we can do at times, but you can see the love for black history and culture in big/small places and interactions all throughout atsv, and places where it's a relief that a black person who cares has been present in the room to say not on my watch to things. While spiderbyte and Hobie weren't written to have a ton of screen time in atsv, every second was made the most of and they're genuinely well written/acted/drawn/animated and authentic. I also think the the writers and directors do really want to get this right, people are in for a surpise and many of the fears around btsv will be proven wrong. But given media's treatment of and white ignorance around handling black main characters, some vigilance probably doesn't hurt.

But I do think your take of Miles’ crush being a result of his trauma is plausible. Regular teen crush moments aside, the idea Miles puts so much focus onto Gwen he forgets about the others doesn’t sound like his character

But at the same time, my bar is low. We’ve had Black creators that still succumb to the stereotypes, despite all the good rep for Black stories they do. So I have to wait and see

Miguel isn't a villain. At most he's an antagonist, at the least he's a foil.

Yes he did go feral, batshit, insane even in that chase down with miles. Mfer was on all fours, screaming this kid's name, chasing him down the second he took off. Is that villainy? wicked, sure. criminal? no. That is a man hellbent on an ideal. A spiderman who had lost everything, can not face the fact that it was by his own hand, so he tries to placate it by saying that messing with canon fucks up the whole. A spiderman who fucked up, big time, and was AT FIRST trying to warn a younger spiderman to not make the same mistakes. To see his error and try to let it go.

That chase? Is the thread snapping. That choke slam, The panic in trying to get spiderbyte to stop the machine, Him clawing at the barrier? That is pent up stages of grief conforming into a ball of rage fuled by the determination to never have another world destroyed again, especially any world that could have his daughter.

No. I don't like Miguel's actions. Before the chase? I found him to be laughable, enjoyable in the sense that there is a spiderman that's basically fucking batman. His moments with Lyla, not having spidersense, his response to Hobie just in his presence? Are why I love his character, infact I appreciate that he tries to explain to Miles instead of just trapping him and putting him away with the other anomalies.

I need y'all to recognize he's definitely not the "good guy" but he's not the "bad guy" either, in the same way that gwen and peter are neither.

Miguel O'Hara, is the foil to Miles Morales.

the turning point in atsv where peter b tries to "reason" with miles and miles tells him to stop calling him a kid, which gets miles hobie's praise. but jessica tells hobie that he isn't helping and hobie only responds with "good" and then miles looks at him with this troubled expression, like he finally understands what hobie was trying to tell him from the get go. miles understands that he can fight for more than what gwen and peter b have accepted as the cost for their place in spider society, miles understands he doesn't need this illusion of power they have to be spiderman. he already IS spiderman. then when miguel ensnares miles in the trap, while everyone else pointlessly tries to reason with miguel (the man, the authority), hobie goes directly to miles and reminds him he has the power to free himself. which results in miles breaking free and dismantling the fragile semblance of order and composure that the spider society and miguel both had. then when miles is trying to go home, it's spiderbyte's choice to defy miguel directly, as peter b and gwen have repeatedly failed to do so because all they do is talk, and stand in solidarity with miles that saves him from miguel's wrath. and when miles is gone and miguel has no one to turn on but HER, that's when gwen finally realises that her place in the spider society never meant anything. that the second that she would have truly questioned miguel and his power, she was always going get the same treatment as miles. she doesn't get to talk anymore, she's given no choice in going after miles or going home. then it's HOBIE who gives her the means to rectify her mistake and to stand by miles' side, as she should have from the very beginning. THAT'S CINEMA BABYYY!!

I LOVED IT! Honestly I was so sad when it was over I would have happily sat and watched for another 3 hours lol. In terms of design, spider punk or hobie brown was an absolute work of art. I also loooved Margot Kess or spiderbyte, she was super cute and I liked her character a lot. However, I’d like to use Miguel’s butthole hair as dental floss. Horny outweighs design.

BUT overall Miles is the best Spider-Man he’s such a good kid

she had less screentime than lyla. she gave miles puppydog eyes and then proceeded to not be relevant until she had the choice to let him go or not, but still didn't catch the fact that he was going home wrong, chooses to betray miguel and endorse universe erasure despite not having any skin in the game other than the 3 words they exchanged earlier.

( 07/01/23 ) Birthday more like.. funday :3

Today, 07/01/2008 is my birthday! I am now 15 officially I have been looking forward to this day all year one day to myself for everyone is on their best behavior and everyone is nice to me plus cake! I woke up very excited already getting calls and texts saying happy birthday but I was nervous either way my aunt was going to come over. Shes interesting in a bad way in the I will pick on you and way and ruin everything. We got food and I even got a peek at the cake but I was upset Sammie ( My friend ) couldn't come and my Aunt was here so I panicked I was silent the whole time I was eating and I looked like a saw a ghost and not a ghost I want to see a ghost I want to ignore! She left and I felt bad for being quiet and living whenever I had the chance. Everyone was mad at me and Abbey ( Sister ) got everyone to dogpile on me I wanted to cry for messing up but then Bethany my savoir and cousin came over and I felt better after a lot of people interrupting me and opening some cards and just trying to cheer up. For one day being about me they didn't let me speak but oh well cake time I had fun and I got a lot of photos taken of me! All my sadness just hid in the back of my head to be forgotten while I eat some cake! It was delicious, chocolate with whipped chocolate icing! It was multiple layers and great! Abbey kept being weird but I avoided her and had fun!

After the cake, I opened presents and I got some new lights, a new tapestry, and a new bag! I also got some money to spend on some new stuff for my room! Bethany insisted we take more photos since my outfit was cute and I didn't mind but I felt bad since my smile is weird my eyes close when I smile and it's embarrassing..people make fun of me and I hate it! I tried hanging up my lights while Bethany and Abbey were sitting on my bed so I couldn't do much!

After that, we went to see the new Spiderverse I was thrilled since I saw the first one years ago on News Years' Eve and I loved it and it was great! The guy at the movies put us down as one adult, and two kids and we were happy he let us slide but the girl was like "No way you're not getting in! Manager come to his station" and he's like Coworker let them in." and she let us through! ( My favorite character was Peter, The Spot, and Spiderbyte : 3 ( Also that one spider in a wheelchair, Sunspider? ). Abbey was crying in the middle of the movie and I felt very awkward the boys in front of us had the loudest laugh and it wasn't even during the funny moments I wanted to pass out but I had fun watching it and for once Dad stayed awake during a movie it was like a miracle! Abbey was acting moody after the movie and all me and Dad did was shrug since I am not letting her ruin my special day. ( If you're wondering why I didn't comfort her she should've slapped me really hard : ( and she hates that stuff, she just saw a sad scene ). We left and the car was weird all she did was tell me to shut up but I didn't worry.

It makes me upset that on my special day, people are never on their best behavior even though I am on theirs! I don't stay up and act annoying I go to bed early and make sure you have the best time why not do the same for me? I get Kylie don't worry about them you don't have to yeah but they are giving me something to worry about! Ugh!

But I had fun this was my first 'birthday' party in years and it made me very happy the movie was a nice cherry on top of this already fun day! 10 / 10 <3

4. I love pavitr I love spiderbyte I love all the new spideys so much. Most importantly I LOVE THAT GWEN GOT SO MUCH TIME DEDICATED TO HER. IT'S WHAT SHE DESERVES

I really really enjoy the setup of miles being framed as a force of chaos especially compared to a lot of much more put together spider people and having miguel as a foil because he's all about control!! The first part of the film builds up to the reveal so well that I was ready for it in a good way it felt right for him and right for the narrative. Miles' thing in itsv has always been about carving your own narrative and your own way of doing things so it's cool that atsv expands on and really doubles down on it

6. Atsv said cops are always gonna be cops first and good cops quit! I don't think their handling was perfect but I appreciate that much at least

7. God the movement. The visuals. The everything. I want to print this film out frame by frame and wallpaper my house with it

8. When are we gonna find out who the little lady with the heart glasses is huh. I feel like she's kept appearing but there's no actual explanation as to who she is. I'm watching that!

9. I have to include a negative. I really hated the live action inclusions. They felt really jarring and just like something to appease the mcu fans which is not what I'm looking for in these films. Just kind of unnecessary and didn't really add anything imo

10. All! The callbacks!! To itsv!!! Fuck man idk if it's just me being someone who's seen that film 50+ times but there were so many little things I was going nuts. Like obviously there were some really big ones but the ones that were subtle visual callbacks specifically had me leaving this mortal plane. The one sticking in my brain rn is miles taking the glass with him when he jumps again but also the being tied to the punching bag and the running upside down over the crossing at his school and the pigeons and

11. The spot is suuuuch a good villain for miles. He's not supposed to be there.... he initially doesn't seem all that important. And he's a chaotic villain for miles the chaotic hero, I love that

12. The anti establishment narrative. Chef kiss. Yes. Question the rules!! Who says this has to be the way!! Pavitr's "I can do both" hobie's "know what you're fighting against"!! Yelling screaming

Spider-Man Into / Across The Spiderverse Gwen Stacy Headcanons!

Note(s): This is a complete projection on my part, if you disagree then you do you

Gwen in my head is transgender, mainly because I dislike the Gwen's Peter Parker is transgender headcanon as it's only basis is 'skinny boy is bullied so must be trans', despite the fact that every single Peter Parker was bullied and skinny before the spider bite?*

Gwen doesn't like many holidays, especially birthdays, she's just never been much of a fan because of the pressure to love and accept every gift given even if it's something she hates.

She gets along with Spiderbyte really well, they both like video games and have frequent gaming sessions even though Margo is way better than her at them.

She's not Christian but she still prays every dinner with her dad, it's just something that brings them closer together.

Sometimes when drumming Gwen gets too into her feelings, forgets she has super strength, and completely breaks the drum kit. This happens so often people think she's too destructive to be in their bands, she's unfortunately well known after a leaked video of her completely demolishing a drum set.

When she was younger she had a very promising ballet and modeling career, she was even about to get professional jobs, but then the spider bite happened and she had to quit. Sometimes, Gwen wishes she didn't, because she really enjoyed and still enjoys both of them.

Gwen hates visiting the spider HQ because most of them have lost a Gwen Stacy, she doesn't feel like herself when speaking to most Peter's and avoids a lot of them. Not only that, but she can't speak to most Peter's because she lost hers, most spiders can't relate to that, and she's only been able to bond with Miles over it.

Her dad is on the fence with Hobie, as much as he agrees that the system is corrupt, heck he even left because of how much it negatively affected his relationship with his daughter, he also feels that Hobie is too 'radical' in his beliefs. Gwen disagrees heavily and this spawns some arguments between them.

Her dad thinks Miles is great for her, him and Jefferson are sort of friends and chat over barbeque, he also has a tense friendship with Rio and they talk about Gwen a lot, for the better or worse.

Gwen really wanted to impress Miles' parents and tried to learn Spanish to do so, her pronunciation was way off and her sentences were all over the place, Rio may or may not like her less after that.

She's never had many friends besides the Spiders and Peter, so she struggles a lot with speaking to anybody's parents or functioning properly in other people's houses, she's more used to people at her house.

Peter used to stay at her place almost every night and she misses having him at her house, she always stays at Margo, Pavitr, Hobie or Miles' house, and vice versa.

She collects pins, random ones, pretty much any that look pretty. She has an 'i eat kids' one with bibble from the Barbie fairy movie on it, she wears it to family gatherings and her dad side eyes it constantly.

Gwen isn't too good at art, she's horrible at anatomy and the only reason she wants to learn is so her and Miles can spend more time together.

She really likes the taste of some spicy food, but can't handle the heat. The aftertaste is always supreme but she turns into a tomato after one bite and coughs if she eats any more.

Gwen looks up to the MJ of Peter B Parkers universe, she also likes to babysit Mayday even if it always ends in total chaos.

*I don't hate thinking Peter is trans in general, heck I think he's trans in all universes, I only have a problem when people get annoyed at the headcanon of Spider-Man Peter and in general Gwen being trans, and are only fine if it's Spider-Gwen's Peter because he's dead.
